Over 30 years ago, we founded the interpreters’ co-operative now widely known as “Congrestolken Amsterdam” or as “Tolken” among our colleagues abroad.
Back in the early 1950s, Henri Methorst, one of the first Dutch interpreters with the European Coal and Steel Community, the predecessor of the present European Union, formed a group of interpreters. In 1976, these “pioneers” established the current co-operative association Congrestolken / Conference Interpreters. Henri served as the chairman for many years and shaped our public profile.
He continues to attend member meetings regularly and remains interested in interpreting at age 95. At Congrestolken / Conference Interpreters Amsterdam, we take pride in our reputation for quality interpretation services in the Netherlands and internationally and look forward to carrying on our operations for many years to come. Next year marks our 30th anniversary as a co-operative association, and we are planning memorable celebrations. For details about how, where and when we will be celebrating, check our News page regularly.
