She subsequently worked as a freelance interpreter for the European Commission and Conference Interpreters Amsterdam from 1976 until 2002. In 1991, Lineke Hofdijk became chairwoman of the co-operative association Conference Interpreters as well. In 2002, she became the full-time managing director of Conference Interpreters.
