Congrestolken was set up by Henri Methorst in 1976 and is a cooperative for AIIC interpreters based in the Netherlands only. In addition, however, we have access to the entire AIIC network, which means we can recruit the recognised top-quality interpreters for our clients from anywhere in the world. Our thirtieth anniversary makes us the longest standing organisation of freelance interpreters on earth. So we can proudly claim that Congrestolken was a pioneer in providing interpretation services and helping to break down the barriers between different languages and cultures. We have given countless speakers a voice (usually as a third party working in the background) and have proud memories of many international conferences where we have played our part – even if our name was not always featured.
Throughout our thirty years of operation we have always sought to serve our clients’ best interests to the fullest extent, by putting their ideas into words and getting their message across, by recruiting the best interpreters and by helping their event to run smoothly.
Of course, we have been through a lot over the last thirty years. Some situations have given us pause for thought and have given us a better insight into the problems and challenges our clients face in the course of their international activities. We are confident that the expertise thus acquired will enable us to continue improving our level of service into the future. Our objective is to achieve a further thirty years of top-quality service and the greatest possible contribution to our clients’ business.
