Congrestolken - Conference Interpreters, the best known interpreting agency in the Netherlands, was an official partner of the Nuclear Security Summit 2014 in the Hague, providing interpreting services yesterday and today.
Amsterdam, 25 March 2014 – Congrestolken has been working closely together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the last eighteen months, organising the Nuclear Security Summit 2014 in the Hague. This is the largest and most important conference ever held in the Netherlands.
Interpreters were used in the plenary, and also in the bilateral and informal meetings of heads of government and high officials in and around the World Forum building.
As requested by the Nuclear Security Summit organisers, interpretation was provided in all the UN languages: Russian, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish and English. Congrestolken also provided services to the various trade missions and Economic Forum in Noordwijk, with Korean and Japanese as additional languages.
Planning and providing interpretation at events like the Nuclear Security Summit required a high degree of dependability, flexibility and in-depth knowledge of the processes and dynamics of major international conferences.
Interpreters who work with Congrestolken are members of AIIC, the Association internationale des Interprètes de Conférence, which is the only interpreters' organisation to be recognised by large international bodies such as the United Nations and the European Union.
Congrestolken has been operating for more than 35 years and provides only the highest-qualified interpreters while always focusing on unfailing reliability of service.
Congrestolken's simultaneous interpreters work in the United Nations and the European institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg and the Hague, as well as in international commerce, international justice and NGOs.
All members of the Congrestolken Cooperative Association have a university education, are members of AIIC and have years of interpreting experience. In addition to its members, AIIC interpreters make up most of Congrestolken's network.
