Work of art at museum "De Paviljoens"

Conference interpreters were involved in the creation of  'The Right Moment at the Wrong Place', a work of art by Suchan Kinoshita (b. Tokyo, 1960).Language and translation are prominent in this artist's works.

'The Right Moment at the Wrong Place' consists of several successive recordings of a single piece of text, whispered from person to person so that it changes slightly each time (as in the children's game Chinese Whispers). The various speakers' interpretations of the text are then played back.

The text fragments were recorded by interpreters and are played into the room through speakers. The work is on display at the De Paviljoens museum in Almere (Netherlands) until September 2011.
