Tips for recruiting interpreters
The conference interpreters' task is to convey the speaker's message. You want them to be able to get your message across as precisely as possible. Please provide them with all relevant documents well in advance, so they can prepare thoroughly beforehand.
If your meeting is highly technical or unusually complex, we recommend you arrange a short briefing session before it starts.
Avoid reading documents aloud, as it is a great strain for your listeners as well as your interpreters. If reading aloud is unavoidable, give the text to the interpreters in advance.
Simultaneous interpretation requires special equipment. Congrestolken will be happy to advise you about the requirements and will make all the necessary arrangements in consultation with you. If you prefer to organise it all yourself, please ensure that the equipment used meets international ISO standards.
A team of professional interpreters always includes a designated team leader as the central point of contact on site. We recommend that you appoint a contact person from your own organisation as well.
Conference interpreters listen, translate and speak, all at the same time. It is high-pressure work. Experience has shown that the working day should not be much longer than eight hours (including breaks) to ensure optimal quality.
